One of the best places to eat in OC. The ribs are meaty, tender and full of flavor. The crab cakes have a ton of flavor, large lumps, and a little filler. Prices are very good, and portions are huge. Highly recommended.

Left before we were served. 25 minutes without even a drink order and it was not busy. Larger groups were served first. No changing table either.

Atypically cozy for a "sport's bar" with a good variety of seating much of which is far away from the bar and quiet. It's great to have a relatively relaxing get-a-way in such a noisy town. I typically go for the prime rib or BBQ ribs which, incidentally, BLOW J R's away. Probably the best on the island. I would describe J R's as "cafeteria style" by comparison. I'm no rib connoisseur, but these are perhaps some of the best ribs I've ever had- meaty, juicy, tender, just the right amount of sauce. "Steak house atmosphere" as someone posted, is a good description but take my description with a grain of salt- I'm a Marylander and I know crab houses but my idea of a "steak house" may be suspect. My cut is decidedly the medium well Prime Rib, not the ever popular (for some reason) NY Strip or girly filet. And this place makes a memorable one. Thick, dense, juicy, just the right amount of charred fat around the edges and bathed in hot au jus. The side baked potato has been on the small side but I can forgive it next to the succulent cut of meat. I confess the size has been inconsistent. I've had everything from conspicuously thin to bust-a-gut thick. Like a lot of OC joints, the food seems a bit better off season when we're typically there.

Food was ok... Got the 9 oz New York Strip ... Broccoli salad was different... All in all just an ok experience that was over priced... One star is generous!

Needs improvement. We went this Spring. They weren't busy at all but the staff was hanging around and ignored us. We were ready to seat ourselves, but someone showed up. Our waiter was good and the meals came promptly. We each ordered ribs, baked potato and applesauce. The ribs were cold, my potato had a dark core in the center. The manager came over, he had a gigantic attitude. I said the ribs were cold. He said that happens! He said he would have them reheated. I told him we wanted new ribs, not microwaved ribs. He said "Fine" in a nasty way, but removed the ribs. The new ribs had the worst bar b que sauce I've ever had. It tasted like pure vinegar with some acidy tomato sauce. I've had their ribs before, this was a different recipe. The new potato was soggy, tasteless. The applesauce was from a jar. The rolls were brown and serve. Not good at all. We won't return.

The service was fast and the food was good. I liked that the ribs had a dry rub, but if you don't like dry rubs they give you a bowl of sauce. The crab cake was one of the best I've had in Ocean City. The plates don't look that appetizing, but that's misleading because the food is really good. I got a spiked Arnold Palmer with sweet tea vodka and lemonade. It was delicious.

  • Cal D.

The ribs were pretty good. My wife had the stuffed flounder and it was delicious. The side dishes(French fries, apple sauce, and baked beans) were not very good. Service was a little slow however very friendly staff. The price was fairly reasonable for the quality of food. I would go back again but only because I haven't found any good BBQ ribs places in OC that are that good.

  • Lisa P.

I got the chicken and rib combo and while the sauce was yummy and portions were good- the meat was tough on the ribs and super dry on the chicken. The ribs my husband ordered were much more juicy and tender. Not sure I will be returning... Wasn't with the money in my opinion.

  • Ari J.

excellent service and delicious food. the cream of crab soup was phenomenal. the ribs were outstanding; smokey and sauced. the beans were very good too. definitely recommend this place and will definitely come back every time I visit OC

We use the carry out service all the time, cause we don't like to wait, and most of their dinners are large enough to be shared by two! Last night, full rack of ribs dinner with baked potato and coleslaw (and they remembered the extra sauce too!) What a great meal, shared by two of us for under $25! The ribs are the reason to go there and you should not be disappointed. Coleslaw was not to my taste, but appeared well made. Had planned on ice cream for dessert but was too stuffed!

  • Elda A.

Baby back ribs were really good ( needed a little more sauce tho)- chicken looked good but ddnt have enough room to eat more. I ordered my picky one year old a burger thinking he wouldnt want ribs- well he ddnt want anything to do with his burger , we couldnt get him off the ribs. The beer is pretty cheap too, they serve them in mason jars which like. Only fail was kids milk was almost same price as the beer ( no rest fault). Good service and we ddnt have to wait to be seated

  • Jennifer B.

Overall great experience. Food was delicious, service was great! Food was fresh, hot, and orders came out correct and fast. The kids' meals came out first which is much appreciated. Would highly recommend! A little pricey, but well worth it!

  • Richard M.

MEAT!! Had a lot of lovely, tasty meat!! Ribs were YUMMY! ...Love the mason jar for beer...Jennifer took great care of us...Will be back..Thanks!

We sat at the bar here ( cloth napkins even at the bar btw). The bartender was great. The cream of crab soup was ridiculously good, tons of crab, great flavor (for those from the New England area, I would say cream of crab is very near a crab bisque btw). The rolls were fresh and warm. My prime rib was melt in your mouth good, the horseradish cream served with it was really tasty, I usually can't be bothered with it most places but I smeared it everywhere here. I, of course ate off my girlfriend's plate as well - the ribs were excellent and that was the best crab cake I've ever had. Very little filler, loads of crab and lots of flavor. I had a side of broccoli salad which was very good, I rarely eat all my veggies and I are this, seemed to be broccoli, tomato, a little red onion and mayo. I would come back here in a heartbeat. (Plus I like playing trivia at the bar)

Menu is not up to date. We are here right now and I had my heart set on the Chesapeake Chicken... I was told they haven't had it for years. Food was ok. Service was good.

  • Bob B.

Had take out, ok burger. Went for a sit down and had the best full rack of baby back ribs in my life! Excellent, meaty and fall off the bone ribs! I always make it a must eat at place when i am on vacation. Excellent!

  • Teresa B.

Prime Rib is scrumptious! I recommend ordering from the bar. The staff is awesome, and the food is too. Came here for my 12 year anniversary with my boo. The specialty is the BBQ, and I think the cole slaw is the best I ever had in my life! There is something about Ocean City's air that makes everything taste so good. Nick's has been a favorite of this town for years. It's a destination for sure!

    (5)
  • Funky M.

Not the worst ribs I've ever had but far the best. The decorum felt like a place my grandparents would eat at. Of course just like everywhere else at the beach everything on the menu was overpriced.

    (2)
  • Jill S.

OMG!!! There are a lot of BBQ options in MD but save yourself the time and just go to Nick's! Service is great! The place is big!! But most important GREAT BBQ! We had the crab toast with cheese as an appetizer, salad and then juicy fall off the bone BBQ ribs and some sides as a main course and it was ALL GOOD! Like hmmmmmmm yummmmmmm!

    (5)
  • Brad R.

Good atmosphere. The crab toast was a really good appetizer. I got the steak and crab cake. The crab cake was delicious with little filler. The steak lacked seasoning but was cooked as ordered and a good cut off meat. Service was good and friendly.

    (4)
  • Alec T.

With a great atmosphere and quick and friendly service, Nick's delivered the best ribs I ever ate!

    (5)
  • M. K.

My parents have a beach place right next to Nick's so needless to say, we get a lot of carryout here. I've tried everything from their crabcakes to their BBQ chicken to their ribs and everything is always delicious. I dunk EVERYTHING in their BBQ sauce! It's a little pricey (then again, what in OC isn't??) but the food is always consistent. Staff seems friendly during the ordering and pickup processes but haven't eaten inside in ages so cannot comment on the actual dining experience.

  • Gerard C.

Nicks is a great place. High quality food with great service. Excellent prices. I usually get the filet mignon ($25.00). Dinner comes with two sides. The steak fries are fantastic. Wine prices are reasonable.

If you're on vacation in the Ocean City, Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach or Dewey Beach area.....& want great ribs at a reasonable price, go no farther - Nick's is the PLACE! Year after year this place is consistently outstanding! Our favourite bartender Pat even stops by our table to say Hi! YAY! She's the BEST! Great service, yummy apps, reasonably priced wine list (or great draft beers!) and mouthwatering ribs means that you will not be disappointed! Crab Cheese Toast is always a winner, dad loves the Onion loaf & the table yeast rolls are yummy and I always take some home! AND for you Buzztime Trivia players, it's in the Sports Bar. I was with my family so I didn't ditch em to go play a game. But the bar is a nice place with friendly regulars, well-priced brews, and of course one of the best bartenders in OC & Fenwick -- PAT! Oh, do note-- because this place is so awesome, be prepared to WAIT from 30-90 min when you visit during the high season. We were off season, went early, & got seated right away!

    (5)
  • Leonard H.

Like every year, always awesome BBQ! Great ribs and chicken. Very good staff. All sides were good too. Nice decor. We wouldn't come to the beach without stopping here. Best ribs in OC!

  • Robert C.

Nick's is1 of the better restaurants that you can find in OC. 1 thing you guys should know is that the wait time could be anywhere from 40 mins - 1 hr during dinner, summer time. BBQ Baby Back Ribs & Crab Cake ($24.50) - 1/2 Rack of Ribs with a Crab Cake. The crab cake's pretty good. They put good amount of crab in there, so you can definiltely taste it. The Baby Back's decently good but it's def not "world famous," that's for sure lol... Queen Cut Prime Rib ($21) - 10 oz Prime Rib w/ Horseradish & 1 Side. The prime rib's just ok, nothing special for me. Overall - The place's pretty spacious even though it can be pretty packed. The service's good, they're really friendly. The portion's above average but it's not that cheap either. The food's decently good, I like their crab cakes. I wouldn't say Nick's is a great place to go, but it's 1 of the better food joints in OC.

  • John S.

I brought my basketball team and family here last Saturday night (37 people). The manager Adam and staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. The food was great and everyone was stuffed and satisfied. Try the cruisin' confusion drink, and of course the BBQ anything!

  • Bethany M.

Family favorite at the beach. I am not a rib person but the guys love them. I always get the chicken terryaki which comes with flavorful rice and two sides. Definitely enough food to share with someone. We also like to order the onion loaf as an appetizer. The rolls are pretty good too. This place is open everyday of the year. The wait can be long during the high season and parking is tight.

My family enjoys eating at Nick's whenever we're in OC. Stopped in again over Memorial Day weekend. We went early, so we were seated right away. By the time we left, nearly every table was filled. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, moist, and delicious. They are served with just enough (for me) sauce cooked on, plus they provide extra BBQ sauce for dipping or for those who like their ribs really messy. Our ribs came out super fast, same time as the bread basket. The coleslaw tastes really fresh with crisp cabbage shreds and dressing that's neither too vinegary nor too sweet. The baked potatoes are good, if standard. The rolls are just OK, applesauce is jarred supermarket stuff with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Service was friendly and attentive. Key to a great dinner at Nick's: Arrive early and order the ribs - you won't be sorry.

  • Philip B.

I read the reviews and anticipated a good dinner but I was disappointed with Nicks. The onion loaf was okay where there was breading, but inside it was a mass of oily thick sliced onions. The sauce was not very good. The steak and BBQ shrimp was mediocre. The NY strip is sliced about 3/4 inch thick. The shrimp were overcooked. Baked potato was fine, as was the applesauce but I have a feeling it was out of a can. The rockfish was okay but the sauce was strong and mustardy. Ponderosa steak house without the salad bar. We won't be going there again.

Love love love this bar! Great ribs and steaks; their food is consistently high quality, whether you dine in or carry out. The crabcakes are also top notch, some of the best in OC,. The bar area is the best, Pat, Jay and Dusty will take care of you and make you feel welcome everytime you come in. The bar also has NTN Trivia which is a big plus for my family. Grab dinner at the bar, play some trivia and make some new friends. This is one of the best places to go in OC.

Initial hostess greeting needs improvement. Food (ribs & bbq chicken were delicious. My husband & I had ribs, chicken, crab cake and crab soup, coleslaw, strong beans and potato wedges. Everything was very delicious. the meat literally fell off the bones and was tender and tasty. Our waiter, Marlene was very attentive. She provided excellent service.

  • Lisa B.

This place has it right!!..The baby backs are to die for, tender, meaty and full of flavor. My husband and I sat in the bar area and had good drinks and good conversation with the customers and the bartender. I had the Orange Crush or two and my husband had a Malibu with Pineapple. Awesome. Shout out to Wilson.

  • Eric B.

Typically when you come to the beach you want seafood. Well my wife raved about this place so much i finally had to try it. I got a rack of ribs and they were excellent! The sauce on the ribs could have used a bit more punch to really set off the flavor. Food was brought out pretty quick. Server was great. I will definitely be back!

  • Liza A.

OMG.....Cant hardly describe this experience....this guys have very good reviews...but what was i thinking...this is OC food... I asked for prime rib...it came in a bowl and the prime rib was floting in some liquid that tasted nasty. We got some wings...yuk...i got a slushy drink that was a mix of Pina colada and strawberry...yuk...oh well all i can say the water was great...that is all so sad...spent a lot of money and came out disgusted...

Great place to eat! The whole family and I were on vacation and we stopped into Nick's. The wait was about 40 mins on a Tuesday but it was well worth it. They had a nice bar and good service. The ribs (the reason we came) were amazing! If I could I'd give it 4.5 stars definitely a good place to go of your looking for some BBQ!

  • A M.

We ate here on 8/23. We were seated fairly quickly. Server was fairly attentive and food was good.

  • Lynnette K.

Typical beach ribs joint. Ordered a bottle of Riesling, ribs and BBQ chicken. Food was good and portions were big. Wine was great. I would agree with other reviews however that the prices were a little high but they are unfortunately in line with other restaurants in the area. The biggest negative was the hostess who didn't greet us and acted like she'd rather be anywhere else. Needs an attitude adjustment.

  • John D.

Very busy place, parking can be tough. I had the rib/chicken combo, wife had the rib/crab cake combo, little guy had the chicken finger kids platter. Crab cake was awesome, ribs were cooked good and seasoned good. I like how they put a little bit of sauce on and then give you a bowl of it if you want more. Chicken fingers were very good, actual pieces of chicken, not the processed type. Cole slaw was perfect... Definitely deserved the 4 stars.

    (4)
  • Noel W.

Absolutely the best when you just want ribs. Great taste, just the right sauce, fall off the bone tender ribs served with great sides. Excellent service.

Read reviews on this place before trying and it definitely lived up to my expectations. Ordered ribs and bbq chicken and was not disappointed. Service was great and food arrived timely. Definitely try this place:-)

Stopped by with my fiancée to grab a pint of beer (yess, a Fat Tire!!!) and something to eat. Was pleasantly surprised with their special "3 course meal for $16" !! Wow tons of great food dirt cheap! And the best part was.. yes, you guessed it! Beer served in Mason Jars!!!! Cheers!!

First and probably only visit that my family and I will make. I was not impressed with the food at all. I will say that my wife really enjoyed her food. We went there for my wife's birthday enroute to the Winterfest of Lights. I may attempt this place again during the summer to see if it's any better but I was not impressed. My meal: Full rack of "world famous" ribs, fries, cole slaw (my rating 1/5) First, the hot rolls were great and would become the staple of my meal. The ribs were "fall off the bone" as other reviewers have mentioned, but that is not the mark of a good rib. One bite and the entire rib falls apart. The meat was soft like it was boiled then grilled. The sauce was blah. Not sure how they are "world famous" because, honestly I didn't take the leftovers home to give my dog. The fries were okay - I'm not much of a fry person. The cole slaw was pretty good and I've never been much of a cole slaw person. Overall, I didn't think the meal was worth $23. My wife's meal: London Broil (medium-rare), fries, cole slaw (her rating 4/5) The single bite she allowed me to have was 100 times better than the ribs. She was very satisfied with her food and thought it was a great deal. My 2 son's shared meal (1 1/2 and 4 years old): Hamburger/fries kids meal (my rating 1/5) I'm aware it's a kids meal, but I was appalled that I spent $6.50 on an, obviously, frozen hamburger. My little taste of it was something else I'd rather never eat again. Service: 3/5 Our server never told us about the "special" sides, which we found out about after we left - steamed green beans and baked beans. I would have much rather had either of those than the fries or cole slaw. She was on top of making sure we had what we needed but was not very personable.

  • Terry B.

Had a steak and the wife had ribs. She said they were the best she ever had. Juicy and loaded with sauce. I had the filet and it was pretty good. A little bit on the pricey side but still a good place to go. Looks better on the inside than outside.

  • Stacy A.

Amazing service & food! Our waiter was attentive & a gentleman. My boyfriend and I went here on our last night in Ocean City, what a way to top it off! I'm actually depressed this place is not where I live so I can frequent it.Best ribs I've ever had hands down.

Nick's is not what it once was. Employee's are very nice & helpful, food not so good. Would not take much to make it better again! I'm hope they make a comeback!

We also did carry out because the place is crowded! You know why when you have the ribs, they are excellent! Prices are not bad either. Great place if your in the mood for ribs.

The food and the service were amazing!

  • Kendra S.

Husband and I hit this place up around 7 p.m. on the 28th of April. Once again we had stellar service (it was slow initially because he was tied up in the kitchen) He was very apologetic for his tardiness and was VERY prompt and efficient on our orders, polite and professional. Food was once again stellar, ribs were delicious, fries great. My husband enjoyed their applesauce and baked beans with his. Rolls prior to meal were delish. I still recommend them with a five star.

Turns out kitchens in Ocean City close pretty early on Saturdays, so we drove around for a while looking for a place to have a late bite to eat (10pm-ish). Finally struck gold with nick's, whose main dining room was closed but we were seated in the bar area and told the full menu was available. Initially considered the crab cakes, but when in Rome... Opted for the chicken and ribs combo with baked potato and applesauce. They had run out of BBQ chicken so the server asked if I was OK with just a grilled breast- perfectly fine by me. The ribs were incredible. I ate them all. I wanted to die later, but the deliciousness of the moment was so worth it. Grilled chicken was juicy and perfectly serviceable, but I left half on the plate in favor of demolishing the ribs. Baked potato was a baked potato, the applesauce was pretty gross though. It didn't taste like apples. How is that possible?

    (4)
  • Kiet L.

Cheap microbrews (under $5!), delicious smokey ribs and big, tasty crab cakes. Ribs were fall off the bone as many on here mention. It's nicely charred and smokey. Crab cakes were juicy and filled with real lump crab meat. Not the mushy stuff you get at a lot of these posers in NYC metro area. The sides of giant cut fries, baked potato and coleslaw were just OK. We went at 4 PM so gladly didn't experience the long lines.

    (4)
  • Jeffrey R.

Definitely very good smoked ribs and chicken. The sauce was very tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but by far the best I've had in ocean city, Md. I don't eat seafood but one of my fellow diners has had them up and down the east coast and said they may have been the best she ever had. Recommend going before seven. You'll have a wait but not as long as if you get there later.

    (4)
  • Ben F.

Here's a quick and easy review. I'll start with the cons... Cons: You're gonna have a wait, maybe up to 90 minutes plus, especially for larger groups of people. Atmosphere is a little loud. Anything other than ribs here is a gamble. And the worst part is, their ribs will spoil you forever and every other rib place you eat at will leave you disappointed! Pros: 5 star, finger licking good ribs !!! Did I mention they have the best ribs? And their rolls are good too. Tender juicy fall off the bone meaty ribs.

    (5)
  • Marge G.

If you are looking for FAST food this is the place because we got our ribs before our water and beers came. Server very cordial. Food good but just 3 stars.

  • Este S.

Came here for the ribs and was not disappointed. The drinks were average but the food was good. Our waitress was friendly and courteous. Good experience.

  • Kareen L.

Received a basket of warm, fresh rolls soon after we were seated. My daughter had ribs which she said were very good and my husband enjoyed his crab cake. I had the prime rib which was pretty good too. Service was good. Will return here again during next year's beach trip.

    (4)
  • Brian T.

Ribs fall off the bone. The cream of crab soup was just a bit too spicy for my liking but still not bad. I thought it had too much old bay spice. The half rack with chicken combo is a lot of food. Don't forget to order the crab toast app.

    (3)
  • Elizabeth H.

Classic Maryland crab cake. Everything you've heard about on Maryland crab cakes you can experience here. No fillers, big lumps of blue crab. The fries are very good too. I'm from VA and visiting for the first time in OC, so far I'm impressed. I will come back and try the ribs during my stay, I here they are not to be missed! Pat at the bar took extra care of us. Excellent customer service.

    (4)
  • Rob G.

Taste was good, price was good, service was adequate but not exceptional. Both my wife and I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with 1/4 chicken. Ribs were cold and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while with nothing more than a cursory warming before being served. I ate my chicken before my ribs, didn't finish my ribs, and for me that is saying something. The quantity of food was good for the price. My wife liked the ribs better than the chicken but said neither were exceptional to her. I would like to try this again if I knew when the food came out of the smoker so the ribs would possibly be better.

  • Matt G.

Great ribs and prime rib.. If you don't like meat don't go here!

    (4)
  • Lisa W.

Great ribs, tender, smokey flavor. No need for the extra sauce that's provided. Crab cake a little on the small side but delicious. BBQ shrimp a disappointment. Would definitely recommend to rib lovers.

  • Erika S.

3 1/2... For appetizer we ordered the crab cheese bread.... It was different and tasty... For my meal I got the rib and crab cake combo.... Both of them were good but not fantastic... My fiancé got the two crab cakes... He again agreed that they were good but NOT out of this world... The food comes fast and our waiter was very nice.... He refilled our drinks and was very attentive .

    (3)
  • Glenn F.

I ate at the bar. Service was fantastic and food was average good. I had the poppers which were not very good, then ribs for dinner with green beans and steak fries. Ribs were decent but no wow factor. Green beans were pretty good and steak fries were ok.

    (3)
  • Ellie B.

I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or something but my half-rack of ribs was as dry as the bleached bones they were on. Once I added more BBQ sauce to them they were passible, but I've definitely had better. The food would have been excusable if the service had been better, but we waited at least 20 minutes before the waitress even brought drinks out, and I'm pretty sure we had to wait at least an hour after the drinks came for our food. Everyone else enjoyed their dinner but I will not return to Nick's.

I've eaten here many times over the years, but this review will primarily be for my last visit. Didn't get a starter this time, but in the past I've had their Onion Loaf. I'm trying to lose some weight though, and that thing makes an Outback Bloolin Onion look like a salad, so I passed this time hehe I didn't feel like ribs, so I got the Chicken Cheseapeke. That thing was too damned small. It was like an underspiced crabcake with cheap chicken wrapped around it. The bearnaise sauce? On the side.....why the hell wouldn't you cook it in the sauce?! That dish infuriated me, as it could've been great but they half-assed it. In the past I've gotten steak which is ok (nothing special), but I do like their crab cakes. Fries were pretty good, and their applesauce didn't have much flavor. This place was a lot better when I first started coming to Ocean CIty, and it isn't friendly on the wallet either. its better than JR's, but that isn't saying a hell of a lot. I'll probably go again out of habit next time I'm in town, but I really hope this place isn't going downhill as I really used to like it.

    (2)
  • Miguel N.

I will keep this short. Get a full rack of ribs and the crab cakes. They prepare them both very well and they taste great. I have not tried other items on the menu but visit if you are in the mood for some great ribs!

I've been going to OC every summer for the past 10 years, and Nicks has become a tradition for us. We have, quite simply, never had a bad meal there. My kids are sort of picky eaters, but I never have any problems with them at Nicks. Last time I went, I wasn't in a ribs mood and had the stuffed flounder and it was also very good. The servers are on it; many OC restaurants hire and fire on a regular basis, the servers at Nicks appear to be more stable, which always results in improved service, The deserts are a tad mundane, but they often are. So why 4 stars instead of 5? There doesn't seem to be a good time to go when you can avoid having to wait. If the weather is decent, it really isn't that big a deal, but last time it was raining, and it was pretty miserable.

    (4)
  • Robb S.

Wow! Fall of the bone ribs! These are some really good ribs. We got our order to go so I can't review the service, but the ribs are really great. Nice smokey flavor. Only complaint is I like my ribs soaked in sauce, and these werent. Still, if you are looking for ribs in the area, don't even try anywhere else ... these are the best local ribs, bar none!!!

  • John W.

Best food. Great chicken and crabcakes

They say that it's hard to fuck up ribs. I disagree. A lot of bad ribs can be had, but not at Nick's. Full rack, home fries and apple sauce is my go to order, however I most recently swapped the apple sauce for baked beans (Bush's, according to Charlie). The ribs call to me. I've compared to JR's, and Nick's wins hands down. Luckily, Nick's is open year round, and we've been there in the middle of Feb., and it's just as good as in the middle of Sept. or May. A little extra sauce makes the meal. Not too tangy, with a bit of spicy. I'd love to review the appetizers or deserts, but never tried any of them. Drinks are served in Mason jars, and no one takes themselves seriously, which makes the staff part of the appeal. Lines to get into this place are the norm during the season, so if you want no lines, be there by 5:30 on a weekend, or plan on waiting until after 8:30. Might still have to wait, but it won't be an hour. Pro-tip: If the entire table is getting ribs, the kitchen can turn the order around fast. We've gone from being seated to having ice tea & a plate of ribs in front of us in 3.5 minutes (the record so far) when there were 4 of us and all of us got a full rack.

ribs and crabcake were very good but I found them to be overpriced. Almost 30 bucks for a half rack of ribs and average size crabcake. Service was above average but not stellar. Homemade rolls were good and overall food quality was good but we will find a less expensive place to dine when at the shore.

By far the best ribs on the planet! I have been here over 30 times and I am never let down. I only get the ribs so I can't speak to anything else but the ribs are truly SMOKED. You can smell the smokers from blocks away. I don't eat ribs in establishments where you can't smell the smokers because of Nicks. This is how ribs should be done. The sauce is also an even balance between sweet and savory. With ribs that tender and full of smoke flavor they would probably be great with ketchup. Fantastic place!

Nick's Original House of Ribs has -- wait for it -- really good ribs. It's a big, busy, noisy place, so get there early if you want in quick. They have the capacity for substantial groups, too, but I think if you have a big crowd you'd want to get there *really* early. Now to the food. We started with Crab Cheese Toast and fried mozzarella for the rugrats. The crab toast was basically lumps o' crab on soft bread covered with cheddar cheese. It's actually pretty good, but will make your heart speed up noticeably upon consumption. We all had the rib and crab cake combo for dinner. Advice - skip the crab cake and stick with the ribs. The cake was average and not worth the premium on the entree price. The ribs, on the other hand, were excellent! Perfectly cooked, falling off the bone, gristle-less hunks of meaty goodness. The only detractor was the sauce -- it is pretty generic. Next time, I'd probably get the ribs dry & sauce on the side, just for more ratio control. Sides were adequate -- steak fries were big and properly cooked, coleslaw was good, and the baked beans were decent. Kids had the chicken fingers & fries, and one portion will easily feed two little ones. There had to be a half pound of chicken on the plate. Staff was very busy and not terribly attentive, but friendly and responsive when you managed to snag their notice. All in all, it's worth the drive up Coastal Highway to 'get your ribs on'.

Nick's Ribs are a must for anyone visiting Ocean City!! We have been going there every year for as long as I can remember and every time they still impress. Most recently, I went there with my wife and some friends on 4th of July weekend and had a fantastic meal! We started with the crab cheese toast and bacon potato skins, both which were amazing. The horseradish sauce that accompanies the crab toast is out of this world!! A friend got the cream of crab soup and said it was great but I didn't try any. There aren't many entrees to choose from because most people only go to Nick's for the ribs. One person in our party got the Prime Rib, which she loved, but she was also picking at everyone else's ribs the whole night. The other 4 of us got ribs (some with crabcakes, some with shrimp). The ribs literally fall of the bone and have a great, smoky taste. They are honestly the greatest ribs I have ever tasted! The crabcakes are surprisingly good too. Everything comes with 2 sides, which are standard but complement the ribs well. Most drinks come in mason jars and are a nice touch to the otherwise standard atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!!

How this place received so many good reviews is beyond me.We waited for a table and were told 45 minutes wait. After 44 minutes were checked with host station to see how much longer. We were told" oh, we paged you 20 minutes ago".Our pager never vibrated nor lit up.We finally got sat at a table. The young waitress acted like she was rushed and spent more time flirting with a male waiter kid than taking care of tables she had.For a place that wants $26 for a strip steak I would expect servers to be better dressed than a tshirt and cut off jean shorts. The food! The NY Strip tasted like a chain boxed steak with 10% water solution, which we later asked and were confirmed it was from a box! The ribs were supposedly smoked ( no pink from smoke at all!) and tasted like they were overcooked in oven and liquid smoke was added in the mix.Very tender but had a grayish color that was not appetizing at all to the eye.Saving grace was the baked potato and the dinner rolls. Before going in we asked folks leaving how was the food, and most said it was excellent.I am thinking now these people have never been to a real steakhouse or ribjoint before.Steaks and Ribs at some buffets are better than what this place was offering! The final nail in the coffin was on the way out the door.We shared our impressions of dinner with the 18 y/o hostesses and apparantly they could care less about customer and guest opinions. Yelp reviews helped formed out choice for this place and now have learned it is not a reliable benchmark for good food places.Sadly $89 later I felt like I was sold a lemon and told to suck on it.

We make it a goal to get to Nick's at least once per beach season. They have the best ribs I've ever eaten. This place actually sold me on the whole rib idea to begin with. I couldn't even tell you how the rest of the food is because I'm so focused on the ribs every time. I highly doubt you could find anything remotely healthy in this place. If you intend to wear a bathing suit within 24 hours of eating, proceed at your own risk. Also, there is usually a wait so be prepared. This is not uncommon at any restaurant in OC during peak season. Otherwise, enjoy! Side note: Someone said the crab cake is good...I don't think I'd go to Nick's for the crab cake. If you want a crab cake in OC there are plenty of seafood restaurants. Nick's is strictly a rib joint.

Day 4 of my OC adventure ends with dinner at Nicks (I am on a well deserved vacation and I want to live it up). Being a OC newbie I wanted to find the best ribs in the area. I have found the best ribs eva! The ribs are fall off the bone goodness and the sauce is to literally die for. After this adventure in food I am going to need more than a Bally's membership but I digress. The onion loaf is sooo good and the cole slaw was also delish. The wait wasn't bad at all we were told that it would be at least 30 minutes but was more like 10 minutes. Nicks is the place to be for good ribs.

Sometimes when you're sunbathing near-naked you just get the craving for some good ole lip smackin' ribs. And Nick's is the place to get 'em. While everything else on the menu remains if-y and I'm pretty sure the apple sauce comes from BJs in a can, the ribs are so perfectly firm/tender and so succulently bathed in their deliciously vacationable sweet-as-the-beach sauce that it's worth a go every time (though keep in mind you will wait at least an hour, peak-season). That said, I'm pretty sure one trip a visit is enough, as I'm also pretty sure the OC boardwalk is steadily reaching it's American-holding capacity.

One of the best meal's you can get in the OC area, hands down. Everything on my plate was very good, which is a big accomplishment in this beach town. The ribs are a bit overdone for my taste, but still excellent, and extremely good taste. Crab cake was excellent, one of the best I've had. Good prices too. A bit of a drive if your down on the inlet end of things, but well worth it.

Nick's is way up there, 144th Street. When we started passing some stretches of condo buildings, the pace got a little slower, a little quieter. We headed in to the restaurant, kids in tow, and prepared ourselves for the worst trials of patience when we were told that the wait would be 25 minutes. Damn - why didn't I call for a reservation first?! Well, all of about 10 minutes later, our little buzzer thing rang, and off we went. A fortuitous sign! Food we ordered - I got some baby backs, and Hubby got some baby backs and a crabcake. Side dishes - I got the cole slaw and applesauce; Hubby, the baked potato and cole slaw. Our food arrived just about as quickly, which was a godsend considering Baby2 was testing testing testing his vocal microphone right up against my left ear. Most of the tables around us were of the older generation, and they were more than happy to entertain both Baby1 and Baby2 (many thanks!!). I held Baby2 while Hubby ate and fed Baby1, anticipating I'd need both hands to eat my ribs. How wrong I was. While I watched, Hubby basically cut his knife through the rib meat like a hot knife...well, you know the cliche. And so I found that I could hold Baby2 and eat at the same time (always a winner in a mom's book, especially with food not mashed between two slices of bread). The ribs were flavored with a thick sauce holding a little smoke, some sweetness and tang, and a slight kick. Cole slaw was a fresh cut cabbage/carrot mix, very lightly dressed and just a touch of tang and spice. Applesauce, I ordered primarily to give to Baby1, and it was just fine with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. You can listen to me sing praises about these ribs all day long, but here's the real litmus test: Baby1 ate just about as many of my ribs as I did. It passed the Baby1 test (and mind you, one of her first foods was foie gras, so I know she's got a good palate!), and it's a winner in my book as well. The final act? When we got up to leave, just about the back half of the restaurant were waving bye to Baby1. Nick's got themselves a new mascot.

I chose this restaurant based on the positive reviews on Yelp. I was very disappointed. The sauce on the ribs was bland. I've bought ribs at the grocery store that had more flavor. My wife wanted a grilled chicken sandwich, but was told that sandwiches are on the bar menu and aren't served in the dining room. Most restaurants I've been to will go out of their way to satisfy the customer. That's not the case here. Needless to say, this will be my only visit to Nick's.

First time here and I love it! Had their crab cakes and it was full of real crab meat, delicious ! Also we tried their ribs and was very good smokey and tender that the meat fall off the bone. The half of chicken was huge, we didn't think it was be so much food. Would come back again if I was in ocean city!

After reading the other reviews on Nicks our family decided to give it a try! We only had a 15 min. wait at 7:30 on a Saturday night which I thought was pretty good. The waitress was at our table immediately when we sat down and continued with amazing service for our entire meal! The hot soft rolls were delicious, for an app we ordered the crab cheese toast, everyone enjoyed it. I ordered the rib and crab cake dinner, and the reviews were right on! The ribs were awesome! I was surprised to find out that the crab cake was wonderful as well! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the sides. The applesauce is straight out of a jar....no maybe a can. The baked beans were dumped straight out of a Van Camps can with no effort to improve it. The Cole Slaw was dry and lacking flavor. Uncle Bens flavored rice, need I say more. Stick with the Baked Potato, how can you mess that up. Overall, my family left very satisfied! Hopefully they will work on improving the sides before we return next summer!

First time and first night vacationing in OC area. Figured it was a safe bet. Service earned this place a third star. Very friendly and quick service. We had two young children in tow so we were happy getting seated and served quickly. Two out of the three meals (adult) were very good - the fish and the Fillet. I had 1/2 rack of baby backs and shrimp. The ribs were very good to excellent, but the shrimp was simply put the- worst I've ever had. They were like rubber with no flavor. I would go back but stick to the steaks and ribs.

  • Heather K.

Drive right past J/R's and head to Nick's instead. The ribs are huge, juicy, and never overcooked. Plus, you'll never have unruly children running around screaming like at J/R's. And the place is clean. I'd prefer a bigger selection of sides, although they do make a great baked potato. Your other choices are fries, cole slaw, and apple sauce. If you had room for dessert, you obviously didn't finish all your ribs.

We love Nick's and make it a stop on our annual trip to Ocean City. We are never disappointed & always stuffed senseless when we leave. The ribs are wonderful, falling off the bone! We tried one of the other rib places years ago and were very disappointed in the atmosphere and food. Nick's always leaves us satisfied and happy and looking forward to next year when we return.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday at 7pm. I was told the wait would be 10 - 20 minutes and it ended up being about 5. The portions here are excellent and we were all impressed with our meals. I had the baby back ribs and lump crab cake which was excellent. The ribs come right off the bone and are delicious. We started with the onion loaf which was ok. The Bloomin Onion at Outback has more flavor to it...this loaf was just greasy and rather bland. Service was excellent with prompt responses and several follow ups to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. I highly recoomend Nick's. Only issue I see is their parking situation which is a complete disaster.

Have eaten at Nick's many times over our years of visiting OC but this review is about our most recent visit. We started off with the onion loaf which is always great. Way too much for the 2 of us, but much tastier than Outback's blooming onion. We both ordered the half rack of ribs but I was a bit disappointed in them this time. They were tender as ever, but much drier this time, we definitely needed extra sauce to help. The service was great and food was served quickly, but I probably won't be as quick to come back next time. Maybe it was because it was off season and crowds were much smaller so they wouldn't be putting out the quantity of ribs as normal, but I didn't leave as satisfied as I normally have in the past.

Trying to find a good place to eat during the off-season in OC can be a daunting task but after a little web surfing we settled on dinner at Nicks and I am really glad we did. There was a little wait but nothing out of the unusual. The atmosphere is family friendly and our service was very fast. The pre-meal rolls were very tasty and the entree portions were very generous and we all had take-out containers. In fact my husband and I had ribs for two additional days. My only con was the impersonal nature of the host. I understand the restaurant is always busy but he never looked at us as he took our information. He rustled us to our seats and did not say good night when we left, in fact it kind of felt like we were bothering him.

Been there twice now. Once last summer, once last weekend. Nobody had any complaints at all. Good BBQ, and much to my surprise, excellent crab cakes too! Bonus! We stayed at the Econo Lodge next door. After eating there the first night I found it hard to go "someplace different" the next few days. Only "Port" up in Dewey was worth the trip away from Nicks.

I guess there's no real other place to get a decent steak in OC. You have your choice of Nick's or buffet steak. The service was fairly decent and there are plenty of tables, but there always seems to be a wait. The sides were small and not very filling. I think I prefer making my own steak from Costco....now that's 5 star worthy!

  • William F.

Nick's ribs are the best on the East Coast.... I have never been to another restaurant that comes close to duplicating them.... the sauce is also the best I've ever had. They are well known for their awesome ribs, but everything else on the menu is great too..... a must order is the onion loaf! The atmosphere is very nice and pleasant and the staff is courteous and provide fast service. If you love ribs, and wish to sample some that you'll remember all your life, this is the place to eat.

Last night I made a last minute decision to meet a friend for dinner here. Upon arriving we were told there would be a 45 minutes wait. We put our name in for a table and walked into the bar for a beverage. After about 5 minutes two bar stools emptied and we filled them. We took our name off the list and ordered dinner there so we could also watch the game. What can I say? The bartenders were friendly our food arrived fast and I have fallen in love with the garlic butter glaze that they use on their steak. If there's a wait, it's worth it here.

Food was great. Bbq sauce was amazing, and the onion loaf-yum (its like a big clump of onion rings). Crab cheese bread was great too. Service a littl slow but at least we could watch a few games while we waited.

Would be five stars, but those who have a toddler know the importance of having a changing table in the restroom. Other than that, the food was great, and the service was good. Give it a try.

The absolute best ribs you will ever encounter. Their baby back ribs are the meatest ribs you will ever eat. Once you have had Nick's ribs, no other ribs will satisfy you. Also, they are very generous with butter when you order a baked potato. A rare occurance in today's world!! The staff is very friendly and efficient. They have some interesting looking frozen drinks I noticed being served out of mason jars, although since I am the driver I did not order one.

i agree with most of the reviewers here. The ribs are pretty good. They were very favorable and had a very good smoke and grill taste to it. I thought the ribs could be meatier. But the sauce was very sweet and tangy. The other dish I had was their king size Prime Rib. I thought it was average at the best. They had coated it with a rosemary coating. I thought that they used a horseradish cream rather than grated fresh horseradish was rather a bad choice. The horseradish cream was pre-made and tasted more like sour cream than horseradish. Also, their au jour was rather bland. For $25, I would rather spend $5 at Phillips Buffet down on 22nd for a more tastier prime rib and seafood buffet. Oh yeah, my wife ordered the crab cakes, it wasn't much to write home about either. In conclusion, go for their ribs, and beer. But avoid their prime ribs, and seafood.

  • Ali L.

Yes, the crab cakes are full of crab here. They were the best crab cakes I had all week. The ribs are really good also, no fat and the sauce is excellent. Cole slaw is yummy! We go here every year we are at the beach- plenty to eat and so good!

Some of the best and fattest ribs I have had. If you are a rib lover you must try it. I can't vouch for the other food since that's all I get! Nice traditional sides to accompany the bbq (such as homemade apple sauce and thick cut potato wedges). Family atmosphere. Located in North OC near the Deleware line.

went there with the wife and kids. it was a toss up between going to Nick's or J.R's. Nicks was definitely the right choice. the ribs were perfect. Moist, perfectly grilled, fall off the bone and juicy, with a perfect charred crust to them. The only flaw i found was the barbeque sauce was a bit salty. it needed a bit of sweetness to it. I'm defeinitely going back but i'll probably bring my own sauce.

  • Bryan B.

This place was really pretty good, I would not say this place is a must try but you also won't be unsatisfied with the meal. Go with the ribs and you won't be sorry. Let's be honest with so many seafood places in the area of your reading my review it is because your looking for something other than seafood. However this place has the best crab cakes I have had at any restaurant in the area. Best thing on the menu the Rib and Crab Cake combo.

  • Bert E.

The ribs are outstanding. The menu has something for everyone. The crab cakes are top notch. You taste the jumbo lump crab meat with just a hint of red pepper. The cooked to order steaks are superb. Nice "steakhouse" style atmosphere. Service was great. I'd have given it a 5 star rating but the side dishes were not particularly the greatest for the cost of the meal. I'd describe the as adequate.

The prime rib that was right on par with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.. The ribs were delicious and the crab cake was second to none.. The piña colada was in the smaller size but well made...

Another lively OCMD place, this one near the Delaware border, proved a nice change from the seafood only joints this week. The 45 minute wait we were given was not nearly that long. Even better, Our server Marlene took care of us right away once we were seated. She was very attentive -- key when you have 2 kids in tow. Best parts of the meal: onion loaf appetizer, ribs, broccoli slaw and broiled crab cake. Yes, still could resist the crab. Fun to pull apart the sweet, fried onions from the block of goodness. Not too much breading. Ribs had good flavor but no smoke ring. Slaw was a nice surprise. Crab didn't need the tartar or cocktails sauces, just squeeze of lemon. Dated decor but reminiscent of my husband's youth. Overall a good option for families.

  • James H.

One of our go-tos in OCMD. Food is always good. We always start with the crab toast- mmmmmm! We had a very friendly waitress this year but the manager and front of house staff needs serious attitude adjustment. We'll be back but hope he is not.

Everyone was building this place up so we thought the ribs were going to be out of this world but unfortunately they fell short for us. We live in southern Maryland where we have some really good barbecue and ribs so the ribs here were only fair to us. The service was good and the sides were mediocre :(. We spent $90 for two of us and it was definitely overpriced and under-impressed :(. I will be generous and give two stars.

Delightful rib house in OC MD. The ribs were absolutely awesome. Perfectly seasoned and juicy. Just the right amount of lean and fat, cooked to perfection where the meat literally fall from the bone. The coke slaw was ok, but we chose it for the fiber. The onion loaf was good and truly enough for 3-5 people as advertised, great for a small group to share.

The food is amazing here!! It's a great place! We were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We were seating in 20. Awesome! We assumed with it being such a busy place it would take longer for our food. It was so fast! I was shocked it was ready and given so quickly! We were recommended by friends to go here and let me tell you-! The ribs fell right off the bones. So good! Will return soon! Great service as well!

Just visited Nicks Ribs n bbq for the first time and was met with most obvious case of racism I have ever experienced. If ur black and you're a party of 4, you have a 30 min wait. If you're white and a party of 5-6...and you show up 10 min after, you're seated within 3 min. White people enjoy...black folk just pass on this garbage!

This is one of the few full service restaurants open in the off season and we were looking for a nice steak dinner. It's nice. The ambiance is very pleasant and the service is very attentive without being overbearing. The food is OK. Not great. OK. I had the New York Strip and the Missus had the Filet Mignon. Both were a tad undercooked to our preference but not enough to send them back. The side dishes weren't much to write home about. Still, it's a decent restaurant with decent food. It is a bit n the pricey side, though.

This is a must if you want a nicer place to eat down the ocean, you have a choice of the bar area or the dining room. Get their early if you go during the busy season! I am a major fan of the cheese crab toast! I absolutely can not eat there without getting it! Once you have it you're hooked. Their ribs are just yummy and a good price. Their crab cakes are just fantastic little balls of flavor! You can not leave this place hungry, I think I've been able to get to the desert one time after 10 years of coming here lol.

  • Neal B.

Ribs were fattier than previous visits, a lot of waste on the plate. I had intended to get a hamburger while my daughter had ribs, but the menu says "sandwiches not served in the dining area after 4pm". I could really do without the forced up-sell.

  • Rey S.

First time to Nicks and I was pleasantly surprised. The ribs were outstanding and the extra cup of BBQ sauce added a nice touch. My wife and I both thought the 1/2 rack was plenty for 1 person. They were moist and very tender with an awesome flavor. Two drawbacks to the evening were slow service and a cheap salad dressing. The service was okay but very slow. Could be because of the time of year or our over taxed waitress. The salad dressing seemed like it was poured from a Great Value Walmart bottle. Not that good at all. Other than that we both thought the taste of the ribs out weighed the other negatives. I would go back and deal with everything else just to sample the ribs again. Go if you get the chance
